An Artist Talk: Jo Hamilton
December 6, 11:00am
Artist Jo Hamilton, whose work is featured in the A.N. Bush Gallery this November and December, will talk about the intricate process of making her work.
Jo first started out as a painter, but has used only crochet and yarn to create her large-scale works for the last twenty years. Crochet (the French word for hook) is a deceptively simple act of tying three-way knots using a small metal hook, that Jo was first taught by her Gran when she was growing up in Scotland.
This exhibition brings together many of Jo’s male nudes for the first time, and she will be discussing why she first began making them, the highs and lows of making giant artworks using tiny knots, her longtime friend and model, Shine; and why the medium and process are still so meaningful to her after two decades.
Enter through Bush Barn Art Center Main Entrance. Talk will take place upstairs in the A.N. Bush Gallery.
